Mark met Lisa in 1995 while teaching a discipleship class in a 'twenty-something' church and 2 years later they married. Together they have two marvelous boys Rilee and Mason and a girl named Haley. He has only 1 sibling Sara (who is a wonderful mother, wife, and sister), as well as 8 in-laws and (more than) 15 nephews and nieces. His parents Steve and Marilyn reside in Ft. Wayne, as does all of his immediate family.
Mark accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young boy in the 1970’s, and was raised in the Church all of his life. His father was the elder of Doctrine and Reconciliation at a large church in the area for nearly 20 years. As a teenager, Mark walked away in rebellion. But Christ, being faithful, drew him back. In 1994, Mark rededicated his life to Christ and a year later began working with youth as a Sr. High Youth Pastor. Mark had instilled in him the desire to have ‘Reasoned Faith’, to “Know why you believe what you believe and be able to explain it to others”; Mark began to do this very thing with the youth. He began to rekindle his interest in Philosophy, Theology, Apologetics, Prophecy, and History to help him in conveying the Truth to others. He shares Darren’s favorite authors, as well as: C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Phillip Johnson, George Orwell, and Frank Peretti.
One thing that Mark loves more than all of his other hobbies is Mixed Martial Arts. He loves firearms and hunting, camping, canoeing, cooking, computers, creative writing, photography, and videography . He also enjoys spending time with his friends and has never been known to be at a loss for words or an opinion!
Mark has been married to his wife Gwendra since October 2001, and they have three cats, all of whom are ethicists. They as yet have no children. Mark has three brothers and two sisters, and a plethora of nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, cousins-in-law, and a host of less-related kith and kin spread across the continental United States. His parents live in Beaver, Oregon.
Mark has been a Christian since 1975, though he prefers the term Christ follower. He has attended a wide variety of churches and denominations. He was ordained for ministry on December 13th, 2009. He and his wife attend a multi-cultural, inter-denominational church. He is in the process of writing his first book.
Mark has been composing music, writing songs, and performing in a variety of musical styles for over twenty years and plays a variety of instruments. His work has appeared in the short film, 7 Digits, and in various theatrical productions. He has studied four languages besides his native English and is fluent in none of them.
